I bought a 1996 a few months ago, had 15000kms and I have had to take it back to the dealer twice to have it fixed. It seems to be a well known problem for Savages according to the folks I have talked to. I took mine to the dealer as I dont really know anything about the seals. It cost me about $100cad. It seemed worth it to me to take it to the dealer.
